The Smurf (i Puffi)

Little blue creatures.

With their unmistakable features, the Smurfs appeared for the first time on "John & Solfami" comics realized by Peyo for the Belgian journal "Le Journal de Spirou". The public success was so extraordinary that in 1959 the author decided to create an autonomous comics series. So far, over 30 cardboard cover books have been published, translated in 16 Countries with sale up to 25 million copies worldwide. In 1981, Hanna Barbera decided to dedicate an animated series to the Smurfs, eventually realizing 400 episodes with the help of Peyo. The longevity and the planetary success of these characters entitle the Smurfs to enter the restricted range of evergreen classic series.

Smurf invasion.

Named in different ways (Schlumpf, Schtroumpf, Pitufo, i Puffi and so on) the Smurfs are well-known by everybody. Their notoriety is certainly linked to the animated and comics series, but also to the wide range of merchandise that includes more than 3000 products. The collectible 3D figurines created by Schleich with more than 500 different characters (300 million pieces sold) represent the most famous merchandise expression. But this is not the only sector that made these impressive numbers. The total merchandising sale goes over the 4 million dollars point, thus confirming these characters among the most loved in the world.
